Two-Step authentication feature rolled out on Beta app for Android and Windows.
This method adds more security to your WhatsApp account.
How this works-
For enabling this on Beta version, go to “Settings>Account>Two Step Verification”
Any attempt to verify phone number on WhatsApp will required a 6 digit passcode.
WhatsApp also requests your email address, in case you wish to disable your two-step verification in future.
WhatsApp users will not be able to re-verify their account within seven days without the pass code. This explains that if a user has forgotten his pass code, and hasn’t provided an email address to receive the disable link, the user will be able to verify their account without the pass code, but will lose all older messages. And if your number is re-verified on WhatsApp after 30 days of last using WhatsApp, without your pass code, your account will be deleted and a new one will be created upon successfully re-verifying.
How to be a Beta Tester-
Just go to the WhatsApp page in Play Store on your mobile, and scroll down. You will see an option to sign-in as beta tester.
Click sign-up and you’ll be a beta tester within a few minutes.
